Gaultheria procumbens, commonly called 'Wintergreen' or 'Winterberry' is native to the woodlands of Eastern North America. A low growing evergreen shrub that makes an attractive ground cover. Plants have dark green leaves that tint purple in the fall, white flowers in early summer, and bright red berries in the winter. Berries have the aroma of wintergreen.
Makes a great holiday plant that can then be planted outside and enjoyed year round.
