Salix caprea, commonly known as Pussy Willow, is a deciduous shrub prized for its soft, silvery catkins that appear on bare branches in late winter to early spring. These fuzzy buds are a classic seasonal favorite and add texture and charm to indoor displays or garden plantings. As the season progresses, the catkins mature into slender flowers, and fresh green leaves emerge, giving the plant a graceful, natural look year-round.

Plant Care

  • Light: Full sun to partial shade for best growth and flowering.
  • Water: Keep soil evenly moist; enjoys regular watering and does not like to dry out completely.
  • Additionally: Can be grown indoors short-term or planted outdoors as a shrub or small tree; benefits from regular pruning to encourage fresh stems with abundant catkins.

Pet Safety: Generally non-toxic to cats and dogs in small quantities.

Price is per plant; each plant is unique and may vary in size, color, or variegation from the photo.

Shipping FAQ's

Question - Why do I get the message "We do not ship to this destination" when trying to check out?

Answer - We don't ship every plant and product variety in store. Some items are too large and some are too sensitive to ship in the mail. You are getting that message because we don't ship one of the products in your order. More than likely there is a plant or pot that is too large to ship.

Question - Do you ship plants in the colder months?

Answer - Yes we do. We do charge an additional $3 handling fee in addition to our normal shipping and handling fees from November 1 to March 1 to cover the cost of heat packs to keep the plants warm during shipment. That fee will be added automatically into the shipping fee you see charged when checking out. We do advise you to take your plant inside as soon as possible upon delivery to avoid potential damage.

Question - Is it safe to ship plants?

Answer - We do our best to ship with the proper packing materials to keep the plant(s) in as safe a shipping environment as possible. The majority of the time, plants will ship just fine.

Question - What if I have a problem with my plant upon arrival?

Answer - Email us within 7 days of your plant arriving if you have any significant damage to your plant during shipping. We will ask for some photos to show the damage, and then we can issue a refund. After 7 days, we are not able to issue a refund. Non-plants have up to 30 days for a refund.
